| National Federation of Presbyteral Councils 2010 Annual Conference Details Best Western Charlottetown 238 Grafton Street Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island C1A 1L5 (1.902.892.2461) 20-24 September 2010 Serving Well – Taking Responsibility! Location: This year we will be meeting in the city of Charlottetown, PEI, birthplace of the Confederation of Canada. Travel: There is a well serviced airport in Charlottetown. The next closest airport is Halifax. If you choose to arrive in Halifax we will not have the ability to meet you however, you may be able to co-ordinate your arrival with one of the Atlantic Representatives who may be able to bring you to Charlottetown. For those arriving in Charlottetown it is a simple taxi trip to the Best Western Hotel. Theme: Serving Well – Taking Responsibility has been chosen as this year’s theme. After consulting with each of the regions it was decided that at our Annual Conference we would model a workshop based on some very practical aspects of our Wellness Guide. Many of our member dioceses and eparchies have asked for our support in helping them implement better wellness programs for our brothers and so we thought we would show how it can be done using local resources, making it educational, easy to understand and engaging. It will also give the reps a sense of how they can duplicate the experience back home. Something new with everything from cooking, to finances to good advice from the doctor…and more! Timings: We will begin with registration at the hotel on Monday September 20th at 1:00pm. Our first session will start at 4:00pm. We will finish with lunch at noon on Friday the 24th of September. Accommodations: Representatives will be responsible for making their own reservations with the hotel. A block of rooms have been set aside for our Assembly and will be held for us. If you want to arrive earlier or perhaps stay a few days after please make those arrangements at the time you book your room. To reserve your room please call The Best Western Charlottetown at 1.902.892.2461 and ask for reservations, the rooms are being held under “The NFPC”. Registration: Forms are attached to your welcome letter from the Regional VP’s and are also on line at nfpc.ca. The registration fee for 2010 is $750.00 and is payable to the “NFPC”. You can either send a cheque with your registration or bring one with you to Charlottetown. RSVP: Confirmation of registration can be sent in a number of ways: E-mail to msargent@rcec.london.on.ca Mail to Mark Sargent, 49 Stanley Street St. Thomas, ON N5R 3E8 Dress: Normally the representatives dress casually for the majority of the assembly. The Eucharist is celebrated daily so please bring an Alb and stole. One evening we will be hosting a formal banquet, with the local Ordinary as our guest. A formal style of dress, either collar or tie has been the accepted standard at the banquet. Good to Know Stuff: There are a number of web sites that show just how beautiful and historic the Charlottetown area is. We will have the chance to visit some of the local attractions while we are there and there will be a free afternoon and evening for you to explore the area as well! It will be important to look at the local weather forecast before you pack as the weather can be changing while we are there. You will want to pack and dress accordingly. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with me at 519-871-0974. I hope to see you in Charlottetown! Peace, Mark Sargent (Rev) NFPC Co-Ordinator |
